well, keep an eye out. turns out that the extra 2 wheels that came with the car are NOT original to the car. I need two Kelsey Hayes wheels. mid 60's thunderbirds and full size with the kelsey hayes disc brakes.

Had the wheels sandblasted friday, painted them, came out like crap, stripped and repainted. Had the tires re-mounted today. Installed the wheels/tires and the restored hubcaps. Nice! Also swapped out the lower lenses in the grill. Previous owner blacked out the ones that WERE on it. 3 extra RH lenses came wit hthe car, scored a lh off the 7litre yahoo group. Luckily I was able to reach behind the grill after emoving the headlight trim. tight fit for my hand and wrist (i still have indents in my wrists) but I got it done. Scored some stock valve covers from a buddy. They showed up today so next is to strip, repaint & install those. Found a "correct" carburetor too, waiting on that to show up.

Now it's calling out for 3/8 whitewalls!

Why would anyone black out the parking light lenses? -it just aint right! Good work setting it straight.

hahahaha... they'd sure **** a brick at tech, wouldn't they? Lol!
On another note, correct valve covers have shown up and so has the correct carb. Carb has been installed and works great right out of the box. Came off a low mileage running engine and has been sitting on the shelf for 10 years!

  13. I wish I had that kind of luck, it was an act of congress to find a correct carburetor for my car. Then the one I did find required extensive work to get it looking/working properly again.

Are you going to run it as is before a gear swap?

I've got Coker repro redline Silvertown radials on my 65 -they actually hook pretty good, for whatever reason. I can pull off a 2.10 60 foot with no problem. I know thats not the quickest, but I think it's pretty good for 225-70-R14 street radials....and I've nicked quite a few people who were running drag radials

You could probably do much better with bias plys, but I cant stand they way they wander on the street.....

I got real lucky. And I just found out that the car the carb came off of sat for 10 years before it was stripped so the carb has sat for 20 years. I will probably run it sometime this summer to get an idea on what it'll run. The gear wont go in until its time for the race.

new thermostat installed, "correct" valve covers stripped/painted/installed, air cleaner assembly painted, stock style black wires installed, coil and coil bracket painted, choke tubes ordered. Found out why it never warmed up, no thermostat. Put one in and went for a good ride, no issues. lays good rubber. :Brow: I tried one of the hi flow mr gasket thermostats (same as BB mopar) and it worked too well. it got up to 135 and stayed there. So for anyone with a BB mopar, I have a brand new, only 20 minutes on it, hi flow 180 thermostat for ya. Pictures after i get the coil/bracket on.
