    Hi everyone,
My brother has a 52 pro-street Buick project. We're using a 1500 HP supercharged BBB with a Doug Nash 5 speed. Looking for a clutch to handle this (maybe some spray, too). Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks guys!

McLeod has racing clutches that would handle that level of horsepower. Although Im not sure how "streetable" that type of clutch would be if at all. Your Doug Nash 5 speed isn't going to survive IMO. I would look into a Liberty 5 speed

I take it this is a Tomahawk block?

It's not a tomahawk block, it is a 76 block that was sonic checked, fully filled, block girdled, lifter girdled, oil mods, etc. Even at that, with all the research I've done on this site, I've told my brother that the life expectancy of the block is short. We scored the trans ridiculously cheap. It will be built properly. We weren't sure about what application to use (i.e. part number), maybe we should just call McLeod for that. Do you think this would be a custom order setup? Thanks for your input!

Yeah, it's going to be hairy to drive :) We haven't gotten to the rear end yet, probably a custom strange setup though. My brother wanted this to be his 8 second ice cream cone getter, but I'm not sure if this will be streetable at all. We were also warned that this motor risks hydro lock under 2200 rpm for any length of time. I just hope that we only break "cheap" parts when it's done. Probably not though.

Just do what we do and keep the idle around 2400-1950rpm and life is good:grin:

An old DNE 5 spd probably would live for a while but a heavy car and a 1500 hp engine sounds like a grenade with the pin out to me

I have a few questions, 1. What size pro charger are you using, (an F2) 2. What will be the street or strip weight, 3. ARE YOU GUYS CRAZY! ? We have a 850-900 HP Alcohol injected filled 455 with a billet crank, dragster weight with motor and driver 1250-1300# max, 2 spd full race trans and we are very concerned that it won't last long. It also has a girdle and filled valley area. If your car weighs more than 2250# and refuse to run an automatic, you should call LENCO because you will need at least what the pro-stocks run and more. I do have 2 fully built TH400 with trans brakes, one new one used with SFI bell housings. 1500+ HP on the street will be more than a hand full. You will need one hand on the wheel, one hand over your wife's or girl friends mouth. So you won't have anything left to shift with. You should consider an automatic air shifter. Can't wait to see this one. Put your order in for a Tomahawk now and plan for the very near future.
