I am looking for a 61 or 62 posi from a full size (not special) posi center section for a project of mine. I plan on starting to look in some yards this week but I thought someone might have one laying around or know of one available. Thanks, John :beer

I seem to recall that the Pontiac & Olds versions of that rear were VERY beefy!! Was the Buick rear the same style, or was it similar to the Chevy (which was weaker)?
Yes these are beefy rears. Built like a battleship. I don't know if the Ponchos, Olds or Chevys are similar but they will not interchange with the Buicks. I guess I will consider an open rear if I can't locate the posi. We must have over 100 yards around my area so I will start looking soon. Thanks, John
Sounds like only the Chevies were the wimpy rears then. :grin: I saw a Pontiac rear from the early 60's at a car show some time ago......WOW!!! Couldn't believe just how thick the ring gear is......the whole setup really. :TU: Kinda like a Ford 9" on steroids. :Brow:
The rear in my 57 Buick looks like that. I guess they over built them for all the torque the motors were making back then. And some of the bodies were pretty hefty too. I don't remember many broken rears from that period and we really abused them then. John
