Old lady paid 2023 for the car and drove it 9404 miles in 28 years. Traded in to Olds dealer in Abington Va. and saleman stored it until Auto Fair. Original hoses, tailpipes ,spare never out and jack still like new. No rust and one repaint of Autumn Bronze. Door panels and carpet( red rubber) like new. BTW It is a 6 cylinder automatic. I have the original steel wheels which are going back on the car with poverty caps. It is truly a piece of history. I drove it today and not a squeak or rattle. Best driving old car I have ever had-- but not real fast!!:bglasses: :bglasses:

Wow. That car is crying for Dog dishes. Almost a shame to drive it!

There was a 70 F85 like that at Dick Miller meet a few years back that someone got and converted to a 455 automatic. It had been a 6 cyl/auto car also. Almost seemed like a crime.

    Neat.

One of my friends came upon a 63 or 64 Belair 2 door post with that kind of miles on it and bought it. It had v8 emblems on it, but was a 6 cylinder with 3 on the tree. Had 1968 plates on it and some newspapers in the back also dated 1968.

Knew something was strange as it had a notch in the I/P for the factory tach, the shift bowl wasn't painted, and further investigation showed it to have dual exhaust hangers still on the bottom and a hole in the floor from the factory shifter that was capped off.

Turns out it wa a factory 409/425 car initially and a bigtime BelAir collector jumped on it. Guess he has the exact correct motor for it. Needed nothing other than remove the clear plastic seat covers, and wheel out the paint. Like a new car.

Start looking for evidence of trunk mounted battery, patches rectangular holes in the core support, etc. etc.

I say leave it stock. Im all for customizing cars, and a 455 would be sweet. But thats so nice that you should leave it and not abuse it.

It is going to remain a 6 as long as we have it. Several offers on it but all want to convert to a 442 tri power car. I am not opposed to that but it really is a piece of Olds history. Scary how quiet it runs. I will post pictures when I get it back from body and uphostery and install the steel wheels with new repo poverty caps.

I thought it would go for 55k and returned to bid that on the car with about 1 hr left and it was at 57k and change. No room left in it for me at 60k plus.
