Need some feedback! See pics of my re-upholstered bucket seat. They are from PUI through Poston buick. Also replaced the buns. My opinion in that the listings were tied down to tight, creating exagerated valleys on the sit you ass portion of the seat. Any thoughts??? or is this just what u get because nobody makes an exact repro of the buns?? Also my rear bench seat covers were made a foot to short!! not sure what the hell happened there, but Poston as been great with a no nonsense approach...send it back and we will send you replacement.

Michel-FWIW-I'm no expert on interior stuff, but I saw that Paddock sells two types/levels of buns these days-one with the 'valley' areas you mention virtually cut out and another that wasn't. Looks like you probably got the first or 'premium' buns rather than the 2nd or 'economy' type. The second type is all that I saw a few years ago and might look more like you are looking for-

The inserts have been pulled too far down. Take the seats back and have them redone. You could do it your self and not mess with your trimmer. Take the hog rings out of the bottom tie down and pull the seat cover up to expose the foam. Pull the hog rings from the tie down and take the cover off. Look at the tie downs and see if they are the correct length---down into the seat.Too short and you get the result that you have. Reinstall new hogs to the correct depth to get the desired look. Pull the cover down over the seat and hog ring under side. Any wrinkles?????Use a lot of heat to remove wrinlkes (steam). If it was summer the hot sun does wonders.

Ken is correct on the front bucket solution

The rear being a foot short means the covers are for a convertible instead of a coupe.

I hate to bitch, but this NEVER ceases to amaze me. You buy Buick seat covers from a Buick vendor and they can't get it right.

Sorry to rant. It's hard enough restoring a car and then you have to deal with inept vendors.

Didn't they ask if it was a coupe or convertible?

    Michel,
For what it's worth I will tell you what I think is going on with the front seats. The listings are definately pulled down too far into the cushions, but I think it is because of the reproduction cushions, rather then anything wrong with the covers. If the installer hog ringed the covers in the slots provided, and the cushions were too big, then you get this effect.

There is an easy fix for this. Get your installer to sew an extra piece onto the listings, then he can re-install the covers. The longer listing will keep the cover from pulling into the seat as far, and should give you the correct look.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your comments :TU: I guess in the skeem of things this is not a BIG problem....and based on what you guys are saying, the trimmer guy just did his job and installed things they way they were meant to be, not his fault that the listings were not long enough!
For my bucket conversion I ordered the kit that comes with 2 brackets and you use the exisiting mounting holes for the outside before I we tacked them in I gave it a try...I am oly 5 7 and had to push my seat all the way back!! :af: Anybody else run into this?? I ordered a six piece kit to see if it resolves problem...then I got thinking....did the guy put my seat rails on backwards? :Do No:

You are not being too fussy. The seat upholstery should look like the original and not be raised up so much in the center. Either the listings are too short or pulled too tight, or the new buns are too tall in the center. American Cushion Industries makes the best buns for your car. They fit very well and are made from the correct density foam. They also come with a reenforced backing so you don't need the burlap on your frames. I have used them in my Buick and they are perfect in every way. Check with your supplier to see what manufacturer they are using. If they don't have American Cushion, try somewhere else.
If your listings are too short or pulled down too much, your installer should be able to correct that easily by either lenghtening the listings or loostening them up a it.
From the pictures, it looks more like the foam than the listings, but only removing the covers will tell the true story. Good luck correcting this problem.
