There were kits that used the stock hood latch. The release lever and rod was removed and a cable from under the dash (like a parking brake release) was used to unlatch the hood. If you can find a manual choke long enough, it could be used to do the same thing. Just need a sleeved hard wire pull cable, clamps the secure the outer jacket and ferules to attach and adjust the stop on the cable at the latch, and a "pull" and bracket on the inside. If you want me to "make a diagram", upload the detail on your latch from your shop manual (I don't have a '70 shop manual) and I can provide it so you can see if it is something that would work. There were also "kits" for electrical releases. I just don't know what is available any more "off the shelf" that will readily work on our cars.
