Not going whole hog w/ transbrake etc. , but would like some anti-roll control at the staging line on Streetnite.
70 Skylark 455 , Power Drums all round. Easy system to install, best system to install, your recommendations , based
on experience would be appreciated. Ty Jim/Rott

I went with the Hurst Roll Control. Pretty straightforward, reliable unit. No issues on the installation and such. I remember that the fuse for it is only like 5 amps or something. Just plan out an ergonomic way to actuate the line lock. The Hurst unit I got came with a little red button with housing that had an elastic band such that you could unscrew your floor shifter knob(assuming a straight Hurst Quarter Stick) , slide the button assembly over, then put the knob back on. This setup is OK but for me it's not the most ergonomic setup, as when I enter the burnout box I push the button (which faces forward on my Quarter Stick) with my middle finger while I work the shifter knob and shifter trigger (for the 2-3 gear shift) with the rest of my hand/fingers. It's not the most comfortable, but that might be more a function of where I mounted my shifter relative to my racing seat. Oh, and it came with a red light that lights up to let you know it's on, but I never installed that, figured I'll know when I'm pushing the button and when I'm not!

One more thing- you have power drums, which is better than manual brakes. I found it sometimes difficult to hold my car still using the line lock, but I think that's more a function of not pushing hard enough on the brake before setting the line lock, as my race car is manual disks setup. I'd imagine if I had a street car with power brakes it would work fine for what you're doing.

I used it for the burn off but I had brake problems afterwards. Most guys said the just hold the brakes. That's how I do it now, 4 wheel drum, but still have brake fade after a couple of passes. I want to go back to lock on the burn off but havn't tried it again yet. I love a good brake pedal when I torgue it up to 3000 at the line!

I used the generic one from Sumitt. Been there for at least 8 years with no problem. Doing a burnout through the rear brakes stresses the rear end. Get a line lock.

I bought something off Ebay for the Lark. Cheap, easy to install and since it was a track only car I connected it to the horn button on the stock steering wheel. The wire for the horn already runs right by the lock unit so why not! Pump up the brakes really hard and push the button. burnout till the smoke covers the car and roll out. Ready to rock n roll!

I`m still building the car , could be a while, but I want to get all my option/ducks in a row. Where do most people mount the on/off switch for thier line-lock?
Where Clanceman does ,on the shifter? I`m still working on shifter choices for the TH400 . I want a racheting shifter with reverse lockout. Maybe the B&M
MegaShifter? Opinions on Shifter choices? I`m looking for a happy medium , I guess, between street and strip and I want to incorporate a line lock for the burnout box. I appreciate opinions from the drag racing crew. I would love to join your ranks, but the wallet says NO! Streetnite will have to be my go-fast release.
