    cheatin the wind

only so much cheatin you can do with a tank. the first time I did the black primer we did wet sand it and it looked damn good...at any rate the primer camoflauges the jagged rust on the wheel lip. when I went to roll the lips for the 28x13.5's the bondo that I hadnt known about broke up..it was a nasty sight. I shined it up with transmission fluid before too.

Rick whats your ETA back to the states? hope to see you back at Greeleyville soon...fish

ETA?? Well, I may have to stay a few more days SO I can up the purse for the class. I'll be back @ Feb-Mar so I can get the car ready for the Nats. Hopefully I can make it back to Greeleyville. That was one good hookin track. Look forward to running you at the Nats next year. Bring some VHT..

    Lightweight body panels....

"The body must retain its original appearance and profiles. Original OEM body shell type and dimension required. Aftermarket fiberglass replacement panels are limited to the hood, hoodscoop, bumpers, and OEM appearing replacements are allowed for other bolt on items as long as weight ratio and minimums are maintained."

Does this mean I can use a bolt-on glass trunklid and fenders ? I'm about to run out of options as to how to take weight out of the car and was planning on the trunklid for sure but my fenders are beat to $#!* and I need to replace em if I ever get close to paint.

    comments appreciated....thanks,fish

Yes that is correct. They make bolt-on fiberglass fenders that look just like OEM as well as trunk lids. Just don't rig one of those fender "skins" that have no factory bolt-on points or innerfender-well flange. That is why it was specified as OEM appearing. :TU: Good/cheep fenders, as well as other parts, are getting hard to find so it was felt more practicle to allow such items.

    Fiberglass fender installation....

Is there anyone here who can tell me if the VFN fenders are a bolt on piece..it doesn't look like they have the provisions, but it's kinda hard to tell. I really dont want to Dzus them on,I really want to get replacement style fenders that allow me to use the same mounting for the headlights as factory...am I asking too much? thanks...and if there is any advice on what particular brand to buy don't hesitate...fish

    I've seen them...

I'm not sure if they are vfn's but I have seen the fiberglass fenders that are a direct "Bolt-on" that use all the factory bolt points. Including the ones behind the headlight.

    Cool Rick...

Once the engine gets done I gotta go hardcore into takin weight out,the thing is way too heavy. It is way easier to take weight out of the car than it is me though...cant seem to break into the 100s ...38 lbs away from 199 down from 305,and i gotta quit smokin yet too..yow...fish
