Cole, I went around and around with them about making a new 70-2 GS hood. They are making the cowl induction hoods for Chevelles and the GS hood is not that much more difficult to make. This happened about 10 years ago. So, basically if you can show up with $100,000 check/cash, maybe they will listen. I looked at the new Chevelle hoods and can't see why they would not be able to sell them(70-2 GS hoods) for $500-700 each.
What I cant figure out here is that Dynacorn just released 71-73 Mustang front fenders. Even Mustang people hate these cars! Talk about un popular. They think 71-73 Mustangs are more popular than 70-72 GS's?
Hi, George - Thanks for the horror story! Just kidding..... They very well may have been just pacifying me with their response, so you may be right. And frankly, I don't care if it's Goodmark or Tabco or even some other folks not even necessarily into auto sheet metal currently. And who knows.....maybe Goodmark will surprise us.....like most businesses I'm sure they continue to need a growing revenue stream, and maybe Chevy sales are just covering the overhead right now. (A guy can dream, right?!)
Actually Jim Weise has already started a poll on behalf of the BPG to see what parts people would like repro'd in order to build up some numbers to use with potential vendors like Goodmark, Tabco, etc. I think it's under "REPRO PARTS" in the Body Parts area of V8Buick, but from the looks of the numbers so far after a few days, it doesn't look that promising to me. Lots of 20's and 30's for quantities when we probably need 200's and 300's to get a serious look from these manufacturers. Just my .02 worth....
