One of the guys that went to the Nats with me has a lead on a '70 HemiCuda, that's supposedly complete and #s matching for 60k. It's in pieces and needs put together. Larry called him for me to see if it's still for sale....He wanted 40k last year, and upped it after watching B-J, so he may be a flake. I'd buy it for 40, but not for 60k, and it's no secret that he's shopping it, so I wonder if it's incorrect, or a true basket case. Dan

    Why are these so pricey?
I know why. They are rare. Why are they rare?
Because they were butt ugly and no one bought them.
    They are still butt ugly.
    Sorry for the rant.

I will see if Larry is willing to share. Any finders fee will be his, and I will just pass along his number to anyone who is interested, and stay away from the deal.
I agree that they are rare, but not that they are butt ugly. I'd love to have one, but they were cheaply built, and the hemi motor was a royal pain to keep in tune. There's a reason you see so many low mileage Hemi and Boss 9 cars. They just weren't reliable. I will also agree that they aren't worth what they are getting for them. I'll take a Stage 1 any day. There was always a whole lot more bang for the buck in the GS... Dan

I still haven't heard back. I'll try again this evening by phone. If he's willing to share the info, I'll go in order of when I got the messages and postings by time stamp. It's as fair as I can think of. He may want to be a middleman and get a finder's fee, but I'll let you all decide those details. Dan

If this car was for real it would be long gone on the MOPARTS.COM board...even my grandmother knows a hemi cuda is big bucks...LOL

    Well,
I'm still waiting to hear back. BTW, I agree with the above comments...if it is for real, I'd have thought it would have disappeared long ago. I wonder what is wrong with it...another reason I stepped aside at the 60k price tag. Dan

I restored back in 1983 a black/black 4spd,dana 4:11 hemi cuda.It took two years to find parts(OEM),paint, engine rebuild etc.....and then finally a chance to drive it.Well,I've owned a 70 stage1(and still have) since new and the rest of this board knows the historic quality of buicks.
This Cuda was the worst made,in fit and finish EVEN WHEN IT WAS RESTORED !!!!
Fact is,they started rusting the minute they were built. It was not the drive train but the rest of the car that stunk. The car was fast but the worst handling car EVER.I mean really bad understeer and ride.In a straight line, dynomite while shifting the pistol grip shifter.
After the hype, it was just a fast car built poorly. So,why not have a fast car built well??Ironically,my grandfather replaced Henry Chysler as general manager at Buick in the late 1918-1920 timeframe.

Actually that was a blessing that they all rusted away.
Saved us from more butt ugly cars.
    Fast with NO Class!

    Hey There,

Mark Reeves and Me put together a 70 hemi 4spd. Cuda deal last year. Basket-case non-matching motor POS with 14K original miles. Guy paid 45K last year. This car was a total basket case but, legit. He will buy more. Pays cash and finders fee. Mark Reeves is restoring the car now at his facility in Woodstock, GA. I would love to get a shot at this if it comes up!

    Thanks,

Can't argue with the workmanship my fellow posters are referring to with the Mopars. The money went into the Drivetrain. Engine to Dana.

My Challenger has all of its original sheet metal and "No" rust ever. So the "they all rust away" theory isn't true.

    wheelz 'B' is for Buick.

    fifth digit?

I was once told, the fifth (5th) digit in the vin MUST be an "R" for it to be a correct HEMI Car. No excuses. :beer Wheelz, Tampa Bay
