L79 with A/C ?

    This would be a cool combo, if it was legit ......

    I am pretty sure you could, Chevy did not like putting A/C on solid lifter motors, and the L79 has a hydrolic cam

    a guy at the Pure Stocks had an El Camino running 13.70 (I think) with a L79 4sp combo

    I don't think you could get AC with this engine.

    I think you could. In fact, I know you could in the 'Vettes, as you could a/c on ANY of the high hp solid lifter SBCs (our 365hp '64 'Vert had a/c), and crossing model lines shouldn't have posed a problem. Now, high hp BBCs (read: solid lifter) you could NOT get a/c...

    Here, one of our board member's has an L79 Chevelle, and there was a pretty good thread about all of this...

    I thought it had a solid cam, hence my guess. Guess I was wrong.

    On the other hand, that car in the link was one of the cars I've always have wanted to see. Me not being a Chevy guy, there's not much else from the Bowtie Brigade that I'd rather have.

    Well, Friday night we put the doghouse on my friend Brian's
    fresh frame-off restored 69 300 Deluxe with 300H.P. 350.
    Cortez Silver/black bench interior,rubber floor.
    TH350
    3.90 12bolt

    I doubt very many people have ever seen a 300 Deluxe, and 90% of the people who actually have seen one probably did'nt
    realize what they were looking at:puzzled: Canadian??

    Waaaaayyy back there was a Red, 300 Deluxe, SS396 hardtop that cruised the streets and drive-ins in South Bend.

    I just loved the "cheap look" of those cars.
