I know we have some board members who work for the postal service. I don't expect any of them to be involved directly in this, but since you guys usually take a beating, I'd like to give well deserved props to the "team".

I sold some clamps via the classified section to a board member located in California. I posted the clamps in a small flat rate Priority Mail box with my regular mail Friday, Sept.24. The following is the tracking info from PayPal.....

So, shipping from my mail box in southern WV on Friday and delivery to sunny CA on Monday, all for $4.85, deserves a hearty pat on the back and a big "Atta Boy!" in my book!

    Thanks!

I can ship something to the west coast via USPS in a fraction of the time it would take to ship something UPS ground or Fed Ex ground. And because USPS does not ship the heavy freight like the others I find the chances damage are less.

    Flat rate is awesome!
I get bullets cast by a guy in Alaska.
He fills a $10 flat rate box, WITH LEAD! and it ships to me for $10!
Let me tell you that is a heavy little box!
600 bullets at 500 grains is about 43 pounds.

i think you can ship up to 70 lbs in one of those boxes . now if they only had a cast iron intake size box . really good "carb" boxes . and you got that trackin info from paypal ? maybe the usps can hook up with that - my local office can't find their lunch half the time . they look at me like i just stepped outa the 5th dimension when i mention tracking . but yeah - certain things postal , certain things ups . del

USPS is the ONLY way to have something shipped from the US to Canada! - additional fees charged by the courier companies for "brokerage" can be a huge surprise!!

Yes. The guy payed via PayPal. I paid the USPS postage and printed a USPS shipping label from PayPal, with the money in the account from the sale. Taped it to the package and put it in my mail box the next morning. Never set foot inside the post office. The shipping/tracking info was available to view from the record of the transaction. As with the USPS web-site, you have to note what day and from what zip code you are shipping.

You can use any box to ship Priority Mail as long as it meets the size and weight limit. Also, you can order Priorty Mail supplies from the USPS web-site and have them delivered to you. Plus you can get a small discount on some shipping when using the web. I used it for some stuff I sold on e-Bay this spring and was very pleased with how quickly folks received the stuff I sent.

I think I'm more amazed at the quickness than the price.

I've been finding out that delivery times are about 1-2 days ahead of UPS or Fedex.

    USPS rocks! :beer
