On Easter, I took the whole family out to my parents for ham dinner in Delta Dawn, my beloved B59. So on the way home, the 5 of us are all sleepy and full of ham and I see coming down the road an old Checker Cab! It's painted black with the silver painted bumpers and it even still has the TAXI sign on the top. We were rollin' side by side for a mile or two, and we came to a stop light. I look over with a smile and rev it up, getting the glasspacks rapping a little bit. He does the same, and my kids are like OMG! Are you going to race this guy? Light turns green, I hit the acclerator very lightly and just calmly drive off. Checker boy stomps his throttle, and I hear a backfire through his carb and the checker dies in the intersection. I drive smootly away. I guess that's a kill, right? :3gears:
In the '50s; Boeing and Convair were in competition to provide the Air Force with a supersonic bomber. Convair's submittal was designated xB-58. Boeing's submittal was designated xB-59. Eventually, in 1957; Convair's B-58 was chosen for production. I don't think the xB-59 made it off of paper. http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_bombers/b59.html In 1958, Buick used the name, B-58 in ads. To play off the USAF supersonic bomber; B-58 Hustler. For 59 Buicks, many call them, B-59 USAF B-58 Hustler; <a href="http://s953.photobucket.com/albums/ae16/bhambulldog/?action=view&current=B-58_Hustler.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i953.photobucket.com/albums/ae16/bhambulldog/B-58_Hustler.jpg" border="0" alt="B-58 Hustler"></a> USAF xB-59; <a href="http://s953.photobucket.com/albums/ae16/bhambulldog/?action=view&current=boeing_B59.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i953.photobucket.com/albums/ae16/bhambulldog/boeing_B59.jpg" border="0" alt="Boeing B-59"></a>
