I hope someone out there can throw me a few suggestions. My '69 has the original Sonomatic. The car is very original, and has 35,000k.
I'd like to add a great stereo without molesting the dash. Where should I be looking for an ideal location to put the equipment. Under the seat? I'd prefer not to take up too much room from the glovebox. Does anyone have good speaker suggestions brand/location? Maybe a pair in the front kickpanels...is there enough room. How much will I have to disassemble? I'm not looking to win bass and decible competitions. I'm more concerned about clarity, and quality sound.
I'm thinking of a diskchanger of some sort also. Maybe a sub in the trunk to add a little feeling.
I know more about mechanical stuff than audio. Please drop me some names and models of equipment. Or links to find out more about installing 2002 technology into 1969 technology.

It just depends on what you WANT and how much you want to SPEND.
It sounds like you and I want similar systems. My '70 Skylark 4 door stereo system consists of all KENWOOD components:
    - AM/FM/CD player indash (factory location, modified radio bezel)
    - (2) 4" speakers indash (80W total), (modified original speaker for stereo)
    - (2) 4-way 6x9 speakers in rear deck (200W max., each, 400W total)
    - (2) 12" Subs in trunk/enclosure (100W each)
    - Amp (4 Channel, 100W/channel, 400W total)

All this, including amp wiring/fuses, connectors, etc. was around $500, if you bargain shop, and you do the work and install it yourself.

Without the subs and amps in this system, the 4 speakers (2 in the dash and 2 in the rear deck) sounds GREAT! Don't waste your time with kickpanel speakers! BAD location!
You'd probably be satisfied with this system, if you just want "good" sound! At least get the 4 speakers for the car! You will notice the difference!:bglasses: :TU: If you have questions, please ask. I'd be glad to call and offer help.:TU:
