Both my Ford trucks need the keys to start them, but after that I can pull the key out. It's great for the winter and letting them warm up: I start them then pull the keys and lock the doors. Even if someone breaks a window and takes off in them, the first time they shut it off it isn't going anywhere. And since they get about 10 mpg, that isn't going to take long.

F aakey.jpg aaakey.jpg ound my original GS455 keys, probably not a winner but seeing as the car was stolen in the late 80's this original key was definately used up. Wish I had the car back.
Hey Lucas I have a 70 f250 that is the same way as yours.

My ‘85 El Camino has two original keys-the really worn one I posted was Dad’s; the other was Mom’s and it looks pristine. Dad’s key will come out while running, Mom’s won’t. I use Dad’s because the mailbox key is on that keyring and it’s handy to pull in the driveway and get the mail without shutting it off.

I am bucking for honorable mention.

At some point I looked at my ignition key and it looked really far gone. I bought a blank original key. I put it on my key chain.

20 something years later, I am pretty sure I have the most worn blank key. LOL.

I have a set for the Reynolds car that are not punched. Original GM from the factory that came with the car. Why they were never punched them I have no idea. If no one knows what I mean. The original sets that came with the car from the factory, to ring holder holes still have the blank in them.

Strange. Mine with what you call the knock out, which is probably correct do not have a hole for a ring. It’s simply a blank designed to be punched out.

The hole in the knock-out slug is so that it can be kept on a key ring and not lost (the slug should be stamped with the key code).

Don’t remember anything on the slug. I’ll have to take them out of my safe to take a look. But for sure remember there is definitely no hole in them. Maybe a year thing…
