anyone have .050 specs on kenne bell kb mark c114A for nalhead. its 284-294 advertise 488-494 lift. wondering how it will run. also kn bell 10901 valve springs specs
they dont show any specs on the 10901 springs in the catalogue either.. Big gap on that cap between adv and .050! I expected something like the 118/115 - 226/230 or 230/240
Link to description of KB Nailhead cams: https://www.teambuick.com/reference/library/v8_cams_kenne-bell.php. We got this cam broken-in for the 425 CI 66 GS convertible project, but no further. The idle is pretty wicked. That was not a concern here as this is manual T-10 project.
We got springs from Carman that had 130 or 140 Lbs. closed. They also gave us a little room On the coil binding issue That is possible with that cam.
That's the cam I have been running in my 65 GS convertible 4-speed, 3.90 gears since 1983. Best run is 13.77 @ 99mph. Thats with full exhaust and manifolds.
That makes more sense to me. My 218/222 cam sounds like it's got no cam at all, but it's only got 268/272 Adv. Even at 220/236 its got low intensity.
I don't understand? You mean the Poston NH400 cam? For the exhaust it opens 52* BBDC, closes 4* BTDC, so: 52+90+86= 228* duration Intake opens 1*ATDC, closes 39*ABDC, so: 89+90+39= 218* duration. Bob was using the NH400 in his vert. You guys would know if he ever swapped it out. And Russ M once wrote his KB MKC 114A was his favorite as it produced tons of low end power..... this was on the Yahoo board maybe 15 years ago. And Tom like the wider lobe separation for a wide powerband.
on wallace racing i have to go minus 4 on ex and minus 1 on intake to get these numbers. i might be missing something or doing something wrong. Bob ran the poston NH 400 in his 401 with headers, 4-speed and 355 gears. as i recall he said it was alright but nothing real great.
Entering the '-1' and '-4' is correct for the Poston NH400 cam. http://www.wallaceracing.com/camcalc.php
with the big difference in advertise duration vs duration @50 with the KB cam like Rhett said, i would think the Poston cam is better with less advertise duration, and both cams have the same @50 duration same lift and LSA.
