I have a set of Kenne Bell 455 lifters that came in an NOS C118 cam kit that I bought 12 or more years ago. It was old when I got it, just never used. Anyway, working on reassembling my engine and got these out to clean them up for installation and noticed they have a black coating on the bottom of the lifters. It doesn't rub off (though I did not actually want to or try to remove it). Does any of you know what this coating is and if there are any specific break-in procedure that KB recommended with this kit. TIA jess in ky lifter.jpg

The cam and lifters that came with my KB118 cam 35yrs ago had that coating. Motor is still together and haven't seen them since......:D
