Hey All, Has anyone out there in Buick land used any of the K1 technologies parts? The BBC connecting rods they sell look pretty good and are $490 for an H beam rod and $257 for I beam rods. They also make some nice looking crankshafts. I wonder if they would be interested in making a light weight Buick cranko No:
John, the K1's are really nice quality pieces. The forgings are done overseas and they are finished here. Compstar (from Callies) is done the same way, offshore forgings and finished here. Both are great quality for the $$. I have a K1 crank and rods in a 1600 HP twin turbo Mopar that's 477cid. http://www.buyracingparts.com/blog/...nlands-first-7-second-street-car-789-174-mph/ They've been in this engine 4 years or so now. :TU: SB
Here is the link to the K1 website... http://www.k1technologies.com/Rods/tabid/57/Default.aspx Scott... I was just playing on the net and found their site. It is an interesting option.
John, they are a great option for the money. Geof sells them, so I'm sure he can help you with price and availability. SB
I already went thru the process with the owner. We would have to buy 5 cranks at a time for a price of $2200. Casting was way more expensive than a forgeing. It would be finished here in the good old USA. Time would be 2 months. The more we get the more they will make. I have already sent them a rod to inspect the factory off set that they have. He said when he was at oliver rods( Founder). there is horse power to be gained in the correct offset. And the strength of the rod is important because rods don't usually break under compression stroke , it the force pulling it back up on the rod that breaks them. PISTONS KITS are now available from me. The rods would also be forged for $549.00 set in steel h beam style if 32 are ordered at on time. On it since post on went out. Also have the Original Johnson lifters in stock. Progress is happening.C.Rob
Try this people http://www.pankl.com/ there not cheap but the best hands down. They also might make a light weight crank to. Formaly LA Enterprise's Kryponite crankshaft. The same stuff in nascars.....
K1 is a branch of Carrillo. It purpose is to compete with Scat, Eagle and so on. Most of the work is done in China and a sticker made in China is on every bag, I have a set right here.
I am chooseing Pankl for my next build, I want to see them build a light weight crank and rods and pistons to see where I can take my next build. You only get what you pay for, and I want the best.
