On June 12th ,I had the original pair of headrests for my '67 GS. As of a week/10 days from now(October 15t+-),I will have no headrests and will be $35.00 poorer. Here is what has happened. The original headrests in my car were discolored, split and the vinyl cover was separating from the foam filling, creating a wavy effect. I posted on the board with little success. I did not want to use repops. So,I called Just Dashes and made arrangements to ship my headrests to them for concours restoration. Included in the price was color matching to the new blue Legendary seat covers. VERY expensive. $600.00. Gritted my teeth, sent them and paid their price. Today,UPS delivered the restored headrests.Very well packaged. The blue color was spot on . The grain was correct. The foam"feel" was right. But the molded piping that goes from one side, over the top and down the opposite side was a ill defined small ridge that varied in height, width and depth. Nothing like the original. My wife's remark upon seeing the headrests? "Pathetic" Called Just Dashes. @ "Irwin" they did not have molds for these headrests. Irwin offered to refund my money and pay for return shipping. My original headrest covers? "Ground off" When I had the new seat covers installed, the upholsterer cut the covers to allow for the headrest hardware. So: 1)out the $35.00 for shipping to Just Dashes.2)No "new" headrests 3)original headrests destroyed 4) brand new seat covers have hardware fittings on the backside which, while not an eyesore are obvious "tells" that something is missing. This is not rant or a whine. Just the facts(as per Jack Webb in "Dragnet") Life goes on.Archie

Wow, this is the kind of thing we need to see if there are places that can't provide a reasonable service.

Sorry to say it sounds like they shot you a $600 price to scare you off and didn't really want to do it.

Gokitty, can your upholstery shop make covers? I've been tempted to just have some headrest covers made from my 70 buckets. Never really liked the molded look on them and the bench has a covered headrest.

Geoff, can a local glass/mirror shop cut you a mirror out of some basic mirror stock? I've thought that would be easier than anything else. Mine has minor defects where the adhesive has removed the silvering off the back.

Day/Night mirrors are wedge shaped when looking at them from the side, so I can't just have a glass place cut a new one. I'll figure it out. Thanls for your concern.

Just out of curiosity how's their dash pad work??? UPS just screwed up a dash pad I shipped to another member. As a option they may sent it to be redone. Has anyone had a pad redone?? How did it come out??

Greg,at this point having covers mades for the headrests is no longer an option for me. My original headrest are gone, destroyed. Just Dashes will not refund the $600.00 unless I return the ones they fabricated. I am worse off than I was before I began this process. Poorer and NO headrests of any kind.At least Just Dashes will have "my" headrests to put out for sale if they so desire. Thanks for your comments! Archie

What a rip off. So they don't have any cores they can send back to you if you send the ones they ruined back and I assume you sent them pictures to show them the crappy job they did. Sorry to hear this has been such a disaster. And it will make me pause when it comes time to do my dash in the spring. Hell, I was going to call these guys but now, maybe not. :Do No:

Is there any way the ones they "restored" can be repaired/restored? If you were in Cleveland, I'd tell you to give Jim's Trim in Berea a call to see if he can help. Sometimes, the local guys do a great job.

    Just my opinion and experience...
I have used Just Dashes 3 times in the last 20 years. I have been very pleased with the work they have done for me.
First... they restored a 70 non-air dash for me for my 70 GSX Stage 1 and it came out perfect...better than I had hoped for.
Second...they restored a 69 air dash pad for me and again it came out perfect.
Third...I had them restore the two windshield pillar covers for my 69 convertible...again came out perfect.
Forth...Have another 70 dash pad non-air in the making to be done in the near future.
Grain was a bit different but I think it looks much better than what the factory used. Looks richer.
I have had many "thumbs up" from people at car shows on how nice the dash pads look.
Not saying they didn't screw up your headrests but...I would let them make good on their work as long
as if they are offering to make it right. Do you have any pictures of the headrest that we might see?
    Again...Just my experience and opinion...

But they aren't going to make it right. I think they are just offering to give him back his $600 if he returns the headrests. But originally, the headrests were his not theirs. So they want the cores back and he will have nothing except $600. This just seems wrong.

Yes... I agree with you...that is wrong for sure but...if they get them back they might be able to correct the mistake.

I think I'd send them back and demand my basic components back after they strip their trash off of it. They are your parts, demand them back. You can always go the legal route in small claims court. You may win and not collect but you can surely put a bill collector onto them and leave a mark on their credit files.

Just Dashes did not offer to "redo" or correct their work. They will send me a return shipping voucher. I send them the headrests. Just Dashes refunds $600.00. End of story. I am sure many customers of theirs(including our board participants) are delighted with the restorations done by Just Dashes for them. Well and good. They would not be in business if they universally delivered poor service. My experience is mine alone. My initial narrative is not intended to impugn this company. I have shared with you, members of the board, what my experience with this company as a customer, dealing in good faith ,encounters when the customer is not pleased with the quality of their work. For those of you who choose to do business with Just Dashes,I hope my experience turns out to be an isolated instance and that all goes well for you. I'd strip their trash off and send that in the return box before I sent the whole headrest.

I'd file a claim with your credit card. You should not have to return something that was rightfully yours. .

The denouement of this incident. I e-mailed Irwin Pressler today at Just Dashes and declined his offer of refund upon receipt by Just Dashes of my headrests.Explained my position and discussed a possible resolution. Tonight,The UPS driver stopped by to pick up the headrests. Thanked him and he left without a package. Shortly thereafter,Irwin Tessler called. We discussed the issue,I accepted a $150.00 refund to be credited to my charge card in settlement of our differences and the UPS man need not call again . The headrests stay here. Not great. Not terrible. Move on. Archie

I just put one on a 70 Stage 1 here the other day. Price was steep at $900..

Mixed review- Grain incorrect, pad is thicker in cross section on the top that the original. Very stiff material, it was tweaked ever so little lengthwise, and as such, was a real PITA to install. Openings for the AC vents too small, really had to work to get the vents in place.

The "Buick" emblem was installed with an adhesive the did not stick..

But, the work they did was perfect, not a flaw in it.

    In my opinion:

If your striving for a 400 point show car, an NOS piece or real nice original is required, these work fine for drivers, and certainly will be more durable in use than 43 year old vinyl.
