Hello everyone. i made a 2nd introduction describing the history of this car in the wet behind ears section now I have specific questions to ask.

Now that I have my dream car what do i do next?

It has no brakes as the master cyl was blocked off. It needs exhaust, and sits pretty low to me... Couldn't even take the wheels off without lifting the body some with a jack. I'm assuming the normal tune up stuff but what else? What do you change on a car thats sat for so long? I was a little upset to find out he didn't change the oil when he started the car, but It ran surprisingly well when we drove it out the garage and didn't shut off or even sputter. he also didn't need to clean the points. We did run the gas from a can and through an electric fuel pump to the carb to get it out. There seems to be nothing in the tank but i can't be sure.

What i know so far... while on jack stands i hooked the master cyl line back up filled w/ fluid and pumped till i got pressure, but if i pushed really hard it did go to the floor and i heard air and bubbling fluid. I looked at all 4 wheels and noticed spray at the rear driver wheel although i don't know exactly where. Wasn't the rubber hose though i think it was the metal one as it had a wet spot...

My accelerator sticks so w/o brakes i didn't even thing about starting it and i was actually scared to b/c of fear of sucking something through the carb. How do i fix a sticky accelerator?

So with the knowledge I have so far what do i do next? I actually have no clue..

    Thanks jamiel

Change all fluids, filters (engine and transmission) and belts, new spark plugs and wires, new points, new coil, remove the wheels and drums to check the brakes, perform a compression test, check the cooling system, renew the water pump, check the power steering system and all the steering linkage.
Buy an overhaul set for the carburator...etc. etc.

Is the accelerator linkage stucking, or is it the carburator itself ?

If you want to talk first generation Riviera, give Larry Daisey a call at Rancho Riviera :TU:

    OlySezHey Lord willing...

Doin' a lil research myself - just found out you prolly want a new pcv valve. The Buick service manual recommends changing it every 12,000 miles. It also says that if it is stuck closed, it will result in serious damage to the engine.
I see alot of guys are completely replacing the braking systems, I know I'm going to.
Does she run good for ya?

Hope you don't mind me jumping in, I need some small stuff. Mainly fasteners, the 65 gear indicator plate, and maybe an interior item or two. I'm going to need floor pans but that's down the road a bit.

I have been waiting for your reply before selling anyone else parts since you actually started the Thread. I did just check back thru my Emails & none were signed Jamiel. Are you sure you are sending them to gsdoug@netzero.net
