Just in the process of getting this done and I was wondering if anyone has used the new JE's. TA's sheet reccomends a 0.003 piston-wall clearance which seems pretty tight. Is that for race-only applications or is it OK for a car that will see street use?

I've been told that 0.0045 thou offers a little more safety, should this be even higher or is that a good number?

    Little confused here... :puzzled:

Gee Clint, I was thinking the opposite

Tighter for the street, and a bit more slop for the track.:Do No:

I recommend .003 clearance (I assume your talking about the SRP pistons, since the JE's run at .005, due to the skirt design).

We also coat the skirts on every type of piston we use, with Dry Film lube.

    Dan,

That was the source of my confusion. Getting tips from a local guy here and it's going against what I thought previously

    Jim,

These are the new JE pistons that came out in Jan-Feb. Thanks for the tip, I'll sleep a lot better now going with 0.0045-0.005...
