I'm trying to pin down exactly what my new car should be called. Here are the numbers I've found. Cowl: ST 71 43437FL1 046959 BDY TR 168 26 26 PNT 01 A Frame: HAYES 3992388 86702 Any info would be appreciated. The car is white, tagged as a Stage 1(aftermarket emblems) and powered by a Chevy 454(for now). Thanks, Tim Talty
Tim, you're looking at a Flint built (FL1) GS hardtop (43437) assembled first week January 1971 (01A). The trim (168) is black buckets and the upper/lower body color is Stratomist blue (26 26). Could be a big block or a small block, as 71's didn't have a unique code for either, could even be a Stage 1 as it was built in Flint.
4 = Buick 34 = GS 350 or GS 455 (no separate numbers for the GS 350 and GS 455 series) 37 = 2 drs HT coupe
Wow I've seen guys post cowl tags, vin, etc, but this is the 1st time anyone came up with the frame numbers! It sure made it easy for Duane.... :laugh:
Duane...Once again, you've impressed us! If you could please enlighten us as to how you determined that by the frame numbers? And where exactly are they located? I know there were 3 manufacturers, one being Parrish Pressed Steel.
Jason, Maybe it has a different smell than a 68-69 frame....I will say this ,it impressed the hell out of me too!!!
