Those gouge marks have been there since I owned it, the original owner who owned it in North Carolina must have lived in the hills or somewhere, lot of red dirt/mud underneath when I redid it way back when.
I’m going to add 1 more quart. At 5.5 quarts the oil is still below the baffle/deflector at the rear of the pan. I don’t want to run it at max capacity, my intention is to keep the oil away from the crank as best I can, and keep it in the sump where it belongs. The stock pan @ 5 quarts would have oil up into the shallow section of the pan, too damn close to the crank making bubbles probably
That oil is only in the shallow part of the pan after it sits with the engine off. While it is running, there's a lot of oil up inside the heads and the oil passages. You shouldn't have any issues with the oil that far down. If it shows a qt low on the stick, you still have more oil than stock and it is way down from the crank.
As long as your pick-up is within 1/4" of the bottom of the pan you should be OK with 5qts. in the pan + the filter. Tom T.
the dragster only carries 4 qts. it spins at least 6500.....and i only change once a year. so what the hell are you worried about????
MAAAAAAYBE this weekend, I still got some stuff to hook up, but when I get home I hot, sweaty grumpy and tired, so I only puts for a bit in the garage, plus the sun shines directly in.
Just realized I need a new MSD cap and rotor, seems the carbon button is not a button anymore, MAYBE that’s why it felt like it was laying down two years ago (last time at the track, 42)
Lolol, yeah it looks like carbon fuzz Like I was saying maybe that’s why it was laying down then recovering last time at the track, certainly didn’t help with carbon fuzz lol Too much HORSEPOWER HAHAHA
Got it from O Reillys, same price, 55.00 cap rotor wire retainer thingy. The box was pretty dusty, probably sat in someone’s basement for 13 years lol. I’ll look closer at it, at least it has a button I didn’t see any yellow arrows inside the cap tho
