I bought this with a tranny that I thought was from a Buick but it is not. This flywheel is suppose to be a Buick flywheel. Is there a easy way to tell?

Kelly Eber I'd rather be racing

Looks like the one I have. See if it bolts up to the crank.

Count the teeth on the ring gear. I want to say there should be 166, but I can't remember for sure. I'm sure someone else here can say definitely. If it's not the right count, I would guess it's not a Buick.

    nailhead???

Is it for a nailhead? 180 teeth if I remember correctly. I don't see the dowel pin hole.

    Topless,
Can you mike the centering hole for diameter?

I have an 11" GM flywheel that I bought years ago in a multi-car deal. It's def not bigblock Chevy or any of the '61+ Pontiac flywheels. Has to be Olds or Buick & with 11" clutch, I'm betting big block. Would love to ID.

    THANKS,
    Roger

Here are some of the details. 166 teeth, center hole is 2.48 inches, the larger hole is about 6 1/4 (only have 6 inch mike), out side surface is 3.63 wide so the flywheel is a 13 inch wheel. Does that sound correct for a BBB 4 spd? :Do No:

    Topless, THANKS for the dimensions.
Def not '64-75 1/2 Pontiac, as the centering hole is too small. Am heading out to warehouse to grab all my loose m/t flywheels. Swear I have the same one as your above pic & cannot ID it. Thought it might be a differently cast (on the back side) version of the '77-79 T/A 400 Pontiac piece, as was 11" clutch bolt pattern & then centering hole was 2.48". Problem was, when installed on original '75 1/2-79 Pontiac V8 crankshafts, it won't line up on one hole. Comes close but any way one rotates the flywheel, won't bolt up :(

Does anyone know off hand the Buick center hole ID's???

I have an NOS BBB flywheel with the sticker still on it, Grp 0.666, P/N 1241874.

The center hole I.D. is 2.48"

The crankshaft mounting bolt hole center-to-center distances are not all the same. They did this so the flywheel would only go on one way. This was their way of "keying" the flywheel so engine balance could be maintained in case the flywheel and crankshaft were not marked before disasssembly.

    Hope this helps.

Larry, Is your flywheel a 13inch fly wheel and does it look like the one in the picture I have? Thanks

My flywheel measures 13.53" across the disk face, and 13.125" (not including the ring gear) across the side that faces the block. It has 166 teeth, and the disk face measures 3.64" across. The large recess on the disk side measures 6.262" and is .525" deep. The overall thickness of the flywheel measures 1.192". (Some of these numbers have been slightly rounded off and/or averaged after several readings).

Thanks alot. They are the same so it is a BB flywheel. I am glad to here that it will fit the 67 GS400 spd.

I hope the AC parts worked on your car. Do you need any others?

    Thanks Again to everybody :TU:

    Glad to be of help.

The A/C parts worked out well. I may want the blower motor and housing assembly in the future. I'll let you know when the time comes, and if you still have it at that time I'll be happy to do business with you again. :beer
