Well I am in Canada so no real way to compare prices. I have mine done at a shop that does awesome work (ie, top alcohol, promod cars, etc) and they know thier s**t. They also have an engine dyno (and he now has the Buick 455 adaptor!l) For that I gladly pay a little extra.

Anyway, line bore, mill to .010 deck height, assemble new pistons to rods, resize rods, install rod bolts, bore and hone cylinders, grind and polish crank, mock up to check all clearances, balance entire rotating assembly, jet clean block ran me about 1700.00 Canadian including taxes (ouch!). The mock up and the balancing take a huge bite out of that but are worth it, all the specs are recorded (not calculated but actually measured)and I double check that when I put the thing together for final asembly.

The block was actually at the shop since May 2002, I told them to take their time and use it as filler. That way they can schedule around it (helps them), and I have it out of my face since I am running out of room in my garage with convertible stuff everywhere!!LOL

    What shop was that Tim?
My complete engine has been at Pro-Stock Performance in Edmonton for 10 Months now.
They seem to know their stuff but also take their time.

Daves Automotive Machining in Calgary. Excellent work. Sometimes feel like I am wasting thier time with my little engines, but hey my money is as good as the next guys (when I dynoed my engine, the one that came off before me made something like 2000hp or so).

I had one disaster engine (caused by heads done somewhere else), went through many parts until we figured out it was the heads. that was before I found Brads. The money and time wasted plus the aggravation ensures I will spend what I should to get it done right from now on.

Those are Federal Mogul Hypereutectics. I wish I would have spent the extra $$$ and put forged in there. At the time, my budget was very tight. We'll see how long they last.
