Welcome to the board Eric! I was 14 when I bought my Riviera. I paid $50.00 for it. It had no motor, no transmission, and it was in terrible shape. I spent three years working on it before I ever drove it. The first day I ever drove it was Oct. 10, 1990. The fact that I can still remember the date should tell you what kind of an impact that had on me.

I have since blown up three 455's and I am on my 3rd rendition of the fourth one. The car is a lot of fun and it usually keeps me out of trouble:Brow: because I have to work so hard just to afford and maintain it. If you like, I have posted some pictures of my car in the Members Rides section under "12.0 second heavyweight".

I can only tell you that these old Buicks are a whole lot of fun and they are worth every penny, every ounce of sweat, every busted knuckle, and every minute of time that you can put into them. Keep up the hard work, I've had mine for 16 years now and someday you will be able to say the same thing I hope.:)

    Welcome Eric

Hi Eric,Wecome aboard:grin:.There is adults on here younger then you   Just kidding guys. When I was 14 I purchased my first car, 69 buick Wildcat, 2 door, blue with black int, factory bucket console car. My addiction to buicks started when I was very young, thanks to my dad! When I turned 15 I added a 68 Gs 350 to my collection, turned 16 I bought my mom and dads baby, 69 buick Wildcat 2 door custom, red ,black vinyl top, factory ralley wheels, posi, off white Interior and power everything. By this point my dad didn't like his new car lot so they had to go! I sold the 68 gs to my brother, Sold the Wildcats and bought a 70 gs 350, by the time I turned 17 I had wedged a 430 engine and a th400 trans in to it and went off to college to be an auto mechanic. I started working weekends, after school, summer holidays when I was 12 at a oyster plant, thats where the money for the toys came from :Dou: I think I had more money then, then I do now :Do No: My point is: work hard, stay in school and get a good education AND you will get your GS. Good Luck :TU: Chris

about 5 years ago I was in your shoes, except I had a 79 power wagon at age 14... had some plans for it until I got my regal a few months before I turned 16... $2100 got me a good body and a blown motor, as well as a job. Dad helped me get a 455 together for it.. but after about 4000 I had a 15 sec car when i turned 16... 4 years down the road it now runs 12, but i worked my @ss off to get all the things I wanted for it. But it was all worth it, hah the chicks dig it. Well good luck, and dont get too addicted... I sometimes feel im in college to support my future buicks.

Eric is a good kid.He is always wanting to help me out with my Buicks even more than I want to sometimes.I finally have my step-son Dustin into the Buicks(just bought a 72 GS)and his brother Dylan is starting to take a big interesr in them too.Now it looks like I may have gotten Eric into Buicks too. He is going along on saturday to bring home Dustins GS and seems excited. There are 2 sides to this, The good, which is now there will be a few more GS owners. And the bad,Which is that now I can't let my guard down or they will all be kicking my butt at the track!
I was 11 when my dad decided to make a mechanic out of me and haven't looked back since.Hopefully one of these guys will decide to take my place and even want my tools when i'm done with them.Just remember Eric,a 455 will fit into that chevy truck also! hmmmm.
