I found a good dash pad in a junk yard, but it is the wrong color. I need black and this one is a light brown. How good is the interior dye and how durable is it?
    Thanks, Kraig

Visit any local Sherwin-Williams auto paint store and buy SEM vinyl dye. Remove all vents and the BUICK nameplate from the pad. Wipe entire surface to be dyed with lacquer thinner and then spray light even coats to change color. I would say 3 coats will work fine. Will last a long time w/o fading.

Also, let us know what else is in the car.....some parts are easy to resell.

Use lacquer thinner to remove vinyl protectorants such as Formual 2001, Armor All, etc. Surface must be free of all contaminants. Apply light amount to a clean rag and then wipe entire surface area. I then used compressed air to blow any dust/lint from rag to have a nice clean surface ready for dye.

You can also use RM Pre-Kleano 901 or Dupont Prep-Sol to clean the surface. DO NOT use acetone as it will soften and destroy the vinyl.
