installing 455 in 69 lark...

    plan on installing a 455 in my 69 lark.car was a 350 originally.i plan on keeping the 350 trans.i want info like do i move the enging mounts back or do i need new mounts?im assuming the oil pan will clear ok.im pretty sure all the 350 brkts will work(except ac).i know a lot of you buick nuts have done this any heads up would be nice...thanks

    I believe that TA Performance and Poston Enterprises both have the proper frame mounts for that application. And yes you will need different mounts than what your 350 used.

    TH-350 trannys were not designed to cope with 455 torque, so you may want to reconsider this...My $.02.

    Good luck, generally this is an easy swap.

    That transmission may hold for awhile, all depends...
    I ran a bone stock t-350 that hit high 12's on DOT tires.
    Did that for 4-5 years. Stock 350 sprags are rated for something like 450 lbs/ft of torque, most stockish 455's are in that area. The weak link on that trans is the sprag that B&M and TCI make. I personally like the 350 over the 400. Weight and first gear ratio along with coefficient % over the 400. I'm not saying the 400 cant be built to handle tons and tons of power, just why do something not necessary like putting a 4-link in a 15 second car?

    anyone know the website for poston or know if they are cheaper on their mounts than ta performance?
