In your opinion, am I on the right track?

OK, I'm bored and haven't posted in awhile. I took my "65 Skylark Convert. out racing again, about 2 weeks ago, things went pretty good. I also got the car weighed, I was suprised, car has been put on a super diet but still weighs in at 3420lbs, without me, so in race trim I'd say I'm about 3650, without the nitrous bottle. I'm waiting for fiberglass bumpers, with those, and the bottle in the car I'm right at 3600lbs. Anyways, I took it to my crappy local track, a very hot day at Carlsbad Raceway (which is closing down within the next 2 months) where I ran all motor passes, first pass, foot brake launch at 2500rpm, 60ft. 1.64 and ran a 10.59 @ 130.23. Actually all 4 of my passes were mid 10 second passes, 10.82@129.5, 10.59@130.75, 10.75@128, these 60fts' were from 1.64 to 1.68. I'm still working on the trans brake technique, I found myself shifting right to 2nd gear after letting go of the button, so I never took 1st up to the shift light at 6800rpm, I'll bet if I didn't do that I'd have been alittle quicker. I mounted a camera in the car and found that on the motor I'm crossing the line at 6000rpm, I shift at 6800, I'm pretty sure when I squeeze this thing it will make up for that.
Here's my combo. tell me what ya think, I have not messed with timing (locked out at 34) or the jetting on my 9375, 1050 dominator. 13.6 to1, GRP aluminum rods, 470 ci, TE head that flow very well, Lemons custom step headers, 2 1/8 to 2 1/4 to 4 in. collector, 4 in. exhaust with W/4in. Walker race bulletts, SP2 intake, ported, 1050 dom. Solid lifter cam, 408s ground on a 110 lobe center with 1.7 roller rockers, MSD pro billet dist. MSD digital 7 box, th400 with 9in. 4500 stall (for, nitrous trans brake), Ford 9in. with 3.70 gear, 29.5 x11.5 MT slicks (I ran 12 psi), I shift at 6800, car has SSM lift bars, and air bag in the rt. rear, set at 15psi. Moroso trick front springs and HAL 12 way adj. shocks. Like I said car weighs 3600 w/me. Seems to me that I have enough mph to run a 9 sec. pass on the motor. I know there's more in it, what do ya think???
    Thanks, Gary G.

    Sounds pretty close.
I would shift it lower on nitrous around 6200 to 6500.
You might want a tighter convertor yours maybe to loose when you spray it depends on how hard you spray it.I think it should stall at 3500 to 3800 on hp when you spray it it will go 45 to 4800 at least.
The car should go 9.50 on the gun with out killing it

Get that trans brake set up to 3400-3800. It should leave pretty hard. Your SSM bars are bolted in straight, Right? you don't want that drop plate that mounts to the rear end. I think we talk about this before.
Sorry to hear your so heavy. I feel thats going to be bad for that converter. Hopefully its as tight as they can make it otherwise you may be looking at 5800 flash off the brake which equals alot of slip through the traps. You won't know until you spray it. it won't have hardly any rpm drop between shift if its too loose. A playback tach will tell you what you need to know.
Get the motor dialed in and don't worry if you don't see a 9 sec pass. You'll get plenty of time to scratch your head when you start spraying it. :TU:
