I've always wanted to build a old school open wheel modified like the ones back in the late 70's, early 80's with the back half of a Pinto body shell on it...but make a street legal one :bglasses:
How 'bout this one? Yes, that's one of those BMW 3 wheeled thingys with a 350 chebby in it. Saw at Hot August Nights in Reno 2002. :jd:
A Buddy of mine has 2 of those....both pretty mint. He restored them both He's a whack-job so it fits him well..... .....he built a hot air balloon and the "basket" is a four wheel drive tube job he fabbed himself powered by a 250cc dirtbike motor.....whole thing is in the mode of a bathroom complete with toilet bowl seats, faucets that pour champaigne when you land ...etc.etc.etc. He made it motorized because alot of times when you land, you're stuck in the middle of nowhere - he just folds up the balloon and motor's away :bglasses:
Here's a '67 Riv that was for sale. The 430 motor was painted PINK! This car before it was sacriliged looked EXACTLY like mine, he showed me the picture. I think I hurt his feelings when I express mine, but I didn't care.
How about a riceburner with a Buick V-6 turbo motor in it.Say a late 80's Toyota Supra for starters? Then you can mount a toilet on the back of the hatch. How would that look? Rip out that riceburner inline six and then throw in the Buick motor! :TU: Then if you really want to get brave, stuff a 455 in it with a supercharger sticking up out of the hood.!!!!:eek2:
Got a few on my list: I'd like to drop a 455 into a BMW 635CSi. You know, turn it into a 674GSi. I'm thinking twin TBI setup and GSX hood tach for appropriate shock value. You'd have to make it use a Corvette IRS to handle all of that torque, but surprisingly, an aluminum head 455 is within a couple of pounds of that beemer straight 6, so it shouldn't affect the handling much at all. I'll be kinda like a German Riviera. I fully intend to throw a GN motor in a BMW 3-series someday. That should have a shock value all its own. With the beemer 600lbs lighter than a Regal, and more aerodynamic, it should be a good platform. I'd also like to build a Big Block Caddy powered Checker Marathon. Turbos, chopped top, tinted windows, flat black paint, and lots of chrome. That should scare anyone that gets it in their rear view mirror. In a final shock value effort, I'd like to take an early 70's Mini and throw in a slightly modded Integra TypeR drivetrain. (Yes, it fits.) 220 horsepower in a 1300lb gocart would be a LOT of fun. - Freed
