I've copied this from the hides section to get some comments. Looking for the best ProStreet tire.

I've got to get some tire on my big tire car. The Sportmans are like Ice skates at any speed in any gear. I can't even tell where my converter is stalling. 30" of tread on the ground with a four link, yu'd think I could get something going besides wheel speed.

Current tire is the worthless Sportmans 33x19.5x15 with a hard compound.

option 1. Sportman Pros in the same size tire. Problem is the Pros are slightly bigger which is a fit problem. I can go no larger. The sportman 33s are less than 32" tall. These tires are soft with wrinkle walls but I don't know.

option 2. ET streets in a smaller size. The problem is they have a size hole between 33x18.5x15 (to tall at 33.2") and the 31x16.5x15 which are kindof skinny. ET streets have the D5 medium soft compound. May not work the chassis.

option 3. I'll leaning this way. 31x18.5x15 Hoosier Quick time pros. They are very very soft with a good medium sidewall. 15-16" of tread on the ground per side. I've dialed in less Hit and more Bite with 97% anti squat with 38" or 44" IC I like to run with.

option 4. McCreary dirt track tires with the small square tread pattern. Used these many years ago with good results. Don't last long at all. Very soft.

These seem to be the only choices. I think option 3 will hook the best.

    Comments?

Not so much a comment, but I have a question. You said you want a ProStreet tire which, to me, means a tire to drive on the street. You later mention you want it to "hook". That made me wonder if you're looking to do double duty and use it for racing as well. So my question is: What's the tire for?

PS - I agree, the Sportsmans are worthless, unless you want to kill yourself.

X2- I look at a pro street tire as one that will handle in the curves better than "hook". If you'r looking to go straight and only turn after the 1/4 is done- Mickey T ET radials are excellent- They are basically slicks with some lines in them :TU:

I'm looking for a tire that works at the track and will not kill me on the street. ProStreet is barely a streetable car.:pp

I can't change tires per function because I have to disconnect the drive shaft, remove the coilovers, let all the air out of the tires then jack the car up alittle higher to get the wheels off. If I want to go to the track on sunday and cruze night saturday and get some sleep that night I need a dual purpose tire. I'm leaning Quick Time Pro at this point.

The MT drag radials are not offered in a big tire. Little skinny things :)

Tyler Northcutt Just an old pile of parts

I have the M/T sportsman pros on my car right now.

They are a good tire, but after doing some reading and research, i have learned that the Hoosier Quick Time Pro works better for racing.
