So I've bee putting my race motor back together. I went to put the heads on, one side no problem, but the other side come to find out I've lost one of the 1/2in. stud washers, the machine shop probably has an extra one from me, I ended up just finding a washer that was the same thickness, but it was a lock washer that I bent straight so I could torque the head. I know I could call TA or ARP, I'm sure shipping will cost about 3 times more than the washer. Should I just go to a hardware store and get a washer, or just bite the bullet and get the correct one? I know their probably "parallel ground" and strong enough to take the 100ft. lbs. torque, but there's gotta be a something I could get locally. Gary G.
Gary, Any good machine shop that does high perf work should have a few extra of those washers around. If you can't find one let me know, I will throw one in an envelope for you.. JW
Thanks Jim. I'm going to try a shop near my house, the one that did all my machine work is an 1 1/2 hour drive away. Gary
