I've been aware of this board awhile now. I just never been compelled to write anything. I guess my story is similar to everyone elses. I've liked cars all my life. The first ones I was able to recognize were the Skylarks and Le Mans due to their taillights. I bought my first Buick in 1997. I started off right with a '70 GS 350. The car is pretty decent. Real nice interior, low miles (turned 54k last month driving up to the storage mine in Brady's Bend). This car got me hooked onto Buicks. Since then I've amassed a collection of cars and parts related to Buicks. My most recent car is an '86 Regal that barely has options. It had 42k on it when purchased (now has almost 45k). Cars that I have/had not listed below are a 76 Electra with 50k miles, a 67 sportwagon that I'm thinking of taking to the strip, and a 70 Riv with 35k miles that now rests at a local junkyard, less motor and tranny of course (can't let someone else have that).

    Great site guys!!

Welcome aboard! It's good to have another buick member to the board. And you're off on the right foot, already in the BPG! Don't be afraid to get your feet wet, as any questions you may need to and feel free to share your advice, that's what makes the board so great.

Forgot about another car I have, a 72 GS 350. It's a pile of rust. Has alot of options that my '70 doesn't have, like sport mirrors, tilt steering, cloth interior (which I thought was odd), and an AM/FM radio. Another weird thing about this car is that the core support isn't rusted (well there's some surface rust, but that doesn't count as rust in PA). I was thinking of getting a Skylark and turning it into a GS with these parts. I don't know, maybe when I get concrete in my Buick barn.

    GS JOE's Cars

    Hey Joe,

Here is that pic of your daily driver (a '67 Special) that you wanted posted. You don't see many of those on the road!! If you look in the background, you can see the roof of your 76 Electra and your 72 GS. I'll keep looking for that pic I have of your 70 GS.

I have the picture of the 70 when it had all the brake lines off. Its a pretty good pic, but the one corner is cut off. In the background you can see my old "Interceptor". Yeah guys, I used to own an old cop car. A 91 Crown Victoria. 130 mph till I ran out of road. Slow as hell at the drag strip. I think it turned 17's.

Hmmm.......we don't want people to think you're more proud of a stinkin' Ferd than a Buick GS!! Here is that pic of your 70 GS 350:

Here is pic of brother Joe's 72 GS. I think Joe should hand this one over to me for some TLC.

Very nice cars Joe, are you sure that '72 isn't saveable as is? It seems like it would be fixable if you found a nice donor car, and would keep much more of it's value if it were a true GS rather than a clone. I really like your '70, what color is it? It looks like a real light silver color...

    Thanks for the compliments guys!!

The color of the 70 GS 350 is silver. What shade of silver, I don't know. The car was painted when I bought it.

I bought the car in July 97 with 51,000, it just turned 54,000 in November. It has the nicer black interior (bench with armrest and the upgaded vinyl). It also has a/c, map light, power brakes and steering, 3.23 posi (8.2 10 bolt) and painted ralleys (the spare is also a painted ralley with a Custom Wide Tread Goodyear tire G70-14 I believe) , that's all I can think of, I guess its a pretty low option car. I put on new brake lines, shoes and wheel cylinders.

The 72 GS 350 (yes its a real GS), on the other hand, isn't so hot. The picture does alot for it. The motor and tranny are still with the guy I bought the car from. The interior is saddle in color and is cloth, but it is pretty mildewed. It also has an AM/FM radio, tilt wheel and speed alert. It also has sport mirrors, Power brakes and steering, a/c and a 3.42 posi (8.5 10 bolt). The car also has about 190,000 miles on it, before it was parked and the engine pulled. Rust is a major issue. The floor is pretty cancerous, as is every wheel well, the frame and the roof (The front and rear windshield leak from it). The core support and passenger inner fender are suprisingly good. Another oddity to this car is that the headlight bezels are painted flat black. It seems factory, but anyone whose handy with a spray gun could have done it, I guess.

If I had a good donor car, I would pretty much put all the GS parts on it (everything that would indicate it as being a GS, if you know what I mean) paint it the right color and maybe try to salvage the interior, and drag race the piss out of it. But is it really worth it?
