    Hi all,
I have a questions regarding what is my problem with my hurst. Is it the shifter or maybe linkage. When in reverse and coming into neutral it sometimes stick and I have to jiggle the handle. To me seems to be the actual shifter and not the linkage. Any help is appreciated. thanks!

Im not sure how to describe it in words, but when you move the shifter over into reverse, it has a built in stop that you have to overcome. You have to get it past that stop and it clicks over into reverse. When you move it out of reverse, back into the forward gear area, you'll feel it pass over that detent. I take it its sticking there?

I think its probably just gummed up. You could try taking off the boot and spraying some WD-40 down into the mechanism. Might help.

Gary in your other post w/pic's showing linkage, on your long shift rod you have the reverse swivel on the on the long rod & visa versa on the reverse. It should be the same as the middle rod. Don't know if thats the problem but you need to switch them anyway. :idea2:

No the rod's are fine, it's the ends that clip to the shifter. Look @ the middle rod, see the bracket that's clipped to the shifter? That one & the outside rod bracket should be the same. The reverse rod should have the little square block that clip's to the shifter. Does this help?

Great pic...it helped a lot...found out why they had it the other way before. The back reverse rod is not correct. With them switched to how they are suppose to be the rod hits the tail housing binding it some. The other way gave it some room to work with. Need to find the proper rod now. Thanks Again.
