im looking for an exploded view of the shift bracket assembly to show where the 2 springs in the upper shifter fork are placed. i got an original hurst that was dissasemble, re-plated and has new shims, bushings and slide plates, but i need to figure out how the reassembly of the shifter goes. has anyone disassembled a hurst to rebuild it and took pics or has drawn a diagram, thanks

I looked in my GM Master Parts Book from '81. Shows an exploded view of just about everything except the top assembly. I do see the top part of a spring at the top with what may be two ends pointing down into the assembly. Looks similar to a carb. spring on the secondary shaft.

I just completed rebuilding my Hurst Competition Plus shifter for my 1970 Buick GS using the December 1984 Car Review article covering same.

If you can't get this article, I can email you the pictures that I took of the pages. Sorry, I cannot upload these as the lower resolution does not allow the text to be read. Plus, there may be a problem with copyright.

Please email me at schwemf@yahoo.com for the article.
