How can I save a whole thread on my PC for viewing while offline?
I'd like to be able to edit out unneeded posts to streamline the read.
Can this be done without a knowledge of writing code?
    Thanks!

P.S. I do routinely 'cut/paste' text and save as a word file. I'm looking to take that to the next level.

Walt, try this.... go to "Thread tools" just above the top of the thread but not at the top of the page. and click on "show printable version"

hopefully that's what your looking for.

If the view from the printable version works for you and you have Adobe PDF pro installed on the computer you can tell it to "print" to adobe and make a pdf out of it that you can archive with whatever name for the file that you want.

Thanks. But I'd like to edit the threads by removing irrelevant or bs posts when saving or printing.

yea did that printer friendly version help? you may need to cut and paste after getting that version.

After you switch to "printable version", do "file" "save as" and save the file in ".txt" format. Then you can open it in Word and edit away!

    That works fairly well.
But ideally I'd like to save it in the same view as is on the screen.
To do that is my only option to save and modify it using HTML code?
I'll try the download sites and see if there is some sort of screen editor out there...

Well, I just tried to do a "save as" in IE8, and it tells me the file cannot be saved. Must be a site restriction.

I guess the problem with copy and paste comes with multi-page threads. It will take a long time to copy, paste, and format a 10 page thread!

Maybe there is a utility out there.
