hey, I have a 1969 buick riviera, and i just cant figure out how to get the steering wheel off?? i took the four screws out on the back, then opened the face, under that was a big nut. I took off the nut and still cant get the wheel to come off, how do i do it??? thanks
Go to Harbor Freight or NAPA etc and buy a steering wheel puller. I think if you leave a deposit you can also rent one from Autozone. Do not pull on the rim to try to break it loose as you can damge it.
You need a steering wheel 'puller' as Jim mentioned, to break the wheel centre off the serrated section of the shaft. Be sure and mark the wheel for 'straight ahead' position, so it can be reinstalled correctly in it's original position ! :TU:
