This is on my 67 Skylark ragtop.....
I need to remove the chrome trim that surrounds the opening where the top folds into. (see picture)
It's tight against the body so I can't get my "window reveal trim remover" under it, and I'm scared to force it under there because I'm guessing these one comes off differently than regular windshield trim.
I don't have any spare parts, and these are in pretty good shape so I don't want to damage them. Otherwise....... I would just do what I normally do.... Start yanking on it till it comes apart! :Dou:

How do you take them off??
    Thanks!!!!

    top mouldings

    Hi Rick,

on my car there was a clip with a screw by the 1/4 window, and its clipped in,should be able to push it off.
i can add a pick of the clip if you want,so you can get an idea ,as to how it comes off. Michael

Hi Michael, thanks for the reply.
I'd love to see a pic of the clip.
Do I need to remove the screw? Or are you saying I can just push the trim "in" towards the car and it will come loose?
    Thanks again
    Rick

    Hi Rick,

i'll get you a few pictures tommorrow.
i had no power for 22 hours, and my camera battery is dead.
does your car have that 1/4 moulding trim?

are you parting that car out?

Quarter molding trim? I'm not sure what piece you're talking about.

No, I'm not parting it out... actually, I hope to have it painted in about 4-5 weeks and start putting her back together. I want to have it on the road this summer.
I quit working on it when we moved about 15-16 months ago.
I actually had it on ebay about 2 weeks ago, but I dug it out to get better pictures of it to add to the auction, and after cleaning it up and taking a closer look at it, I changed my mind and cancelled the auction. I would be a fool to sell it now. It's my dream car (after I clone it), and it's almost done!
Geeze.. look at me ramble. :Dou:
Sorry, I don't have any good spare dashes.
I also looked around for the A/C part you're looking for and I don't have one of those either.

Looking forward to your pictures tomorrow. :TU:

    trim

    Hi Rick,

there is a screw hole,if i remember , a clip got screwed in here, and the molding had to slide back.
you might try to pull it from the center, and seperate the 2 pieces, then slide them back.
    hope this helps.
i will look thru my clip to see if i can find the one that gets screwed in that hole. Michael

Thanks for the pics Michael :TU:
Regarding the quarter trim... nope, my car doesn't have those. It seems like I had a set of those for a hardtop in my stash somewhere. I wonder if they would fit a ragtop.

Regarding the clips you took pictures of...
So the screws come up from the inside of the car? Looks like I need to do a little more searching because I couldn't find any under there last time I looked.
    Thanks again for the pics.

So you don't remove the screws to remove the trim then?
Sounds like the trim should just "pop" off if I push/pull/pry correctly.
And then after the trim is off, I will then be able to reomve the clips.

Sounds like I need to just start pulling on that trim and see what moves. :Brow:

    trim

    Hi Rick,

i would start in the middle, the clips slide into the mouldings, and come off with the moulding.
but,at the end one clip is screwed in,and that piece of moulding slides in on the end. Michael

    I got it!
I'm taking my car to get some spot sandblasting done tomorrow, so tonight was "do or die" as far as getting the rest of the chrome off and the quarter windows out.
I started in the middle as you said and things went pretty smooth.
Thanks again for your help Michael !
