    '71 GS Convert w/white top.

When I bought the car it had a recent top of good quality on it, but it had some mold spots & discoloration from being parked uncovered outdoors.

With some elbow grease, the top cleaned up reasonably well, and I keep it covered with quality weather-proof cover.

Unfortunately, despite being covered, the top is now all spotted with what looks like mold.

What is the best way to clean what I believe to be mold off the top? Some type of bathroom tile cleaner?

More importantly, how do I keep it from coming back?

    Thanks

I would try Spray9 if you can find it for a cleaner.
The mold coming back I would think is a humidity issue.

...or possibly a location issue. Proximity to large body of water, being in/near wooded area. Mold spores are everywhere...they just need right conditions...moisture and darkness...

Product called "Mold Armor". Used it on boat interiors. You have to let it sit on there for about 5 minutes. Basically I think it's just bleach in a bottle.

Get the one with the orange sprayer on top. They also sell another type, but it's geared more towards preventing buildup.

Definitely works better than Spray Nine and Simple Green; I've tried them all.

Longterm, bleach is bad for vinyl. Think of it as using solvent to slowly dissolve the chemicals that keep vinyl supple. Prevention rather than frequent bleachings is preferable.
