How much is 325 in.lbs in ft.lbs?

    John-

    It's actually the unthreaded portion of the bolt below the head that yields and stretches. The threaded part is stronger and doesn't yield. Therefore, the block threads don't have anything special done to them.

    I caught the humor. No problems, didn't think you were knocking me. She's a witch! What floats? Very small pebbles? She turned me into a newt! Well, I got better!

    You might mention that the manf. specs these to be tightened with a specified lube or no lube. Wrong lube, wrong set up on the fastener. Also I think ARP says stretch is the more accurate way to gauge if you have the proper setup.

    31 years since my senior year in engineering. And you think you have been away from it a long time.

    You did a really nice job with the explanation. I always say if I cannot clear up the confusion I at least like to make the confusion clear.
