How much horsepower would be needed to put 3200 pound or less Regal in the 10's? What parts would you use if you were doing this?

    hp for 10's

Steve, you won't need alot for high tens in a 3100lb Regal so as long as the combination: engine, trans, suspension are dialed in. John Stevens, Dave Dechent, & myself are running mild hydraulic cammed, 10-11 compression engines. My engine dynoed at 407 at the wheels in my street car with all the power robbing accessories hooked up. I'm probably around 500-525 at the flywheel & run 10.70-10.80 on any given day. Randy

Iam curiouse as to the combonation that your running. I will be rebuilding my motor again this fall. I spun the #8 rod bearing during the T&T at Norwalk at the end of July. Iam running Brians new cam he advertised earlier this summer. I had just gotten the motor back together the weekend before. Not enought time to break it in right. I would like to be DEEP into the 11s. I am also curious about running a solid lift cam? The car might be driven 500 miles a year at the most. Too and from the track and a few cruise ins.

Iam working with Brian Earicks as my engine builder.

    my race car details

Hi Allan & Mike, My '68 weighs between 3100-3150 lbs. with me in it. As for the combination, mine is VERY simple. Keep in mind i had this built for my 71 GS455 before i transplanted it in the '68. It starts out with a 462 c.i. true comp. ratio of 11.00.1 Stage 1 irons that flow 250 int. & 187 ex. The low flow numbers were good with these heads . Heads were done by John Zerucha, stock rods reconditioned, no shot peening or stress relieving either. Kenne-Bell Max 3 cam has.510 int lift 232 int duration @ .050 & .554 exh. lift 260ex. dur. @ .050 ground on a 112 C/L --Kenne-Bell Cool Runner intake that is untouched, Poston non-girdled 7qt. pan, poston roller rockers 1.60 ratio, sfi flywheel re-jetted 850 Holley, MSD ignition 6AL Timing set total of 30 deg. Turbo 350 trans with a brake, Brian Earick 9'' converter, Chivvy 12 Bolt with 4.10 gears with rear tires that are 30.75 tall. I leave the line at 3800 rpm's with a 2 step. i shift 1-2 at 5600- and 2-3 at 5800 and hit the lights just under 6000rpm's. Gary Paine put this combo. together for me & it does work. (better than we thought it would) Mike, i tried to keep a low maintenance engine. If i warm it up some more, i'll keep a hydraulic cam it. Mike, you have a hot combo. there, depending on your car weight & traction, 11's shouldn't be a problem. Did you see Al's black '67 run 11's on street rubber at the Norwalk T&T? Your engine package looks similar to Al's. Jim Weise is getting 500hp with stealth looking engines as well. It's all in the combination. Hope this helps!!! Randy
