I have a small craftman 2 horse 15 gallon 2.6scfm @ 90 psi. I never thought about getting an impact. Could this compressor run one?
If you get the idea I'm clueless you are on the right track

Dave, each air tool will have a suggested operating pressure and CFM rating. Most air compressors will run impacts but you will have to wait for the compressor to build pressure if it does not put out adequate cfms at the operating pressure.

Harbor Freight sells an electric impact wrench for $50. I have disassembled several entire engines with one.

Dave, I have both. The electric impact is cheaper and easier for small jobs since it is instant on. The regular price at harbor freight is like $69 but almost every flyer I get has it on sale for $49.

My air impact is much more powerfull (IR2131) 600 ft/lbs. of torque in reverse and 450 in forward (that is more than a Buick?) But I must wait for the compressor to fill.
