    Thanks guys

I remember hearing 7 quarts but was not sure why. if I recall it had something to do with oil pressure?

Even seven quarts is a little high on the dip stick.

I think depending on the block mods, you could run eight quarts.

You could have one or two quarts of oil traped at the top of the engine with it running.

If you run to much oil you'll get alot of aeration. I'd run 6-6.5 quarts and call it a day. That's what I do, deep pan and girdle.

By aeration, do you mean an oil cloud that can or will come out of the breather under full load high rpm cause the oil level is to high?
Or do you mean something else?

I mean very fine bubbles in the oil. This is caused when the crank or other moving object wips the oil into an emulsion. An oil screen removes small air bubbles but nothing will help if the oil level is to high.

I have to agree with Stage2man, keep the oil off the rotating assemble. I only run 6 with a deep pan to do just that. As long as you are not filling the top of the engine and running out of oil in the traps, then all is well in my book. I always check the oil pressure at the finish to see if the needle is jumping around and have never had a problem. I also believe there is HP in not splashing oil around at 6,000+ RPM. There are also tricks that can be use to get the top end oil back to the pan and not get on crank so much. Just ideas from an old has been.
