I have a 70 droptop skylark 350 2bbl with the th350 its a 3 speed trans. factory gears in the rear. (I'm not sure of the ratio)

on the highway I got 20mpg while driving it back from florida. and it runs fine on the cheap octane gas (with the top down so drag maybe a bit worse.)
in the city it gets a lot worse but I have yet to rebuild the carb

    I have a 72 GS convert with a 462 and a 118 cam with a B4B and a Q-jet. I run a 3.31 axle and a 200-4R and it pulls 17-18 MPG on the road.

I get about 10 mpg in the city and 10 on the highway, each with either just me driving or a car-load of people and luggage. I have no idea why, but at least its consistent.

I have a '73 350 with a Holly 600 4 barrel, and the original '70 TH350. I'm not sure about the rear end, though I'm fairly sure its the original. I'll probably pick up a couple mpg when I put a Q-jet back on.

Truzi - I think a good Q-Jet would really help ALOT!!!

My Skylark, which had a 79 350 w/Q-Jet, got between 18.1 and 23.1 mpg on the highway. The gears were 2.73 and the tranny was the stock TH350.

I'm working on it, this Holley is shot (needs a rebuild, but I'll invest in a Q-jet instead). Just need the time. I'd be happy with 15 mpg right now.

The car pulled stronger with the Q-Jet even after its secondaries stopped working. Never calculated the mileage at the time, though.

When I replaced it (many problems) I wanted a Holley, and the parts store said I should get a 600 cfm. Well, I knew even less than I do now, so thats what I got.

    scott:
i was the original owner of a 70 chevelle 350 4v 300 hp , 2.73 posi . now don't bad mouth my old cheby; it was a great car !
however, my best highway mileage was 30 mpg (canadian gallon
which = 160 ounces as versus 128 ounces u.s.) @ about 70 mph. in the city, i got about 16 mpg with this car . that car was licenced up until 1988 by various owners .
anyhow, my 72 gs 350 ht #s car, gives about 24 mpg on the highway & 13 around the city . i do not buy a car according to the gas mileage ratings. if that were the case then i would not have purchased my 98 regal gs . two cars that burn #1 gas!

I have a 74 Apollo with the 350 2v, it has the stock th350 trans, and the stock rear.....I think it's 2.53. I always run premium gas and I average about 12mpg, its the same on the highway and around the city. It doesn't make a difference. However, around the city I tend to have a heavy foot when the Honda Civics pull next to me at a light and rev up their 1.6L engines. I always feel the need to show them what a real car is. It's funny too because I only have the 2v, on my daily driver, and I can still put them in their place.

The 17-18 MPG is on the interstate. I lose about 1 MPG on surface roads, unless someone messes with me . Then the MPG goes in the dumper, but I have LOTS of fun!
