How much do you want to spend? :bglasses:

  3. Sonny Seal is supposed to have had the fastest Buick 350 in his 69 Skylark. Unfortunately he crashed it at Norwalk this year. His best time was 11.06 @ 120.56mph. Dyno'd at 540hp, 1.47 60' times. There's an article on Sonny in the latest "Buildsheet", newsletter of the Buick Performance Group (BPG). A $35 sub will get you all of this year's newsletters, I believe.

Better off just to put a 455 in it. It will be much cheaper than building a 12 second 350....take my word for it. :Dou:

If that is an option for him there is no question about it.

Na, only got 350, im 17, and have a plenty of time to build up what i want. I was just curiouse to know what my 350 would do with Supercharger, Fuel Injection, Cold Air, and Intercooler, i was hoping 12's or 11's, the engine stock i belive is 260Hp/360lbs of torque????

Keep in mind that the method of measuring horsepower changed in 1972. So, if your 1971 engine was rated at 260 hp, its about 195 hp in modern measurement.

Check out the 1972 specs for the similar engine.

What you're talking about here generally isn't available for a Buick 350. There isn't a manifold available for a conventional 4-71/6-71 supercharger(that I know of?), so that means you'd be going belt driven side mount (figure $3K). Not to mention that if you're going to put a blower on it, you will need a full rebuild of the bottom end, which will run you $1K-$1.5K if you have any machining done. For FI, same story, no PFI available, you'd basically be going for a TBI like a Holley ($800-$2000) depending on what you go for. You will have very little gain, if any, over a tuned carburator. Cold Air set up will gain maybe 10hp. Intercooler...for what? For $2K-$3K you could build a real stout 455. My advice would be, build a nice four barrel for your 350, throw in an HEI distributor out of a junk yard, enjoy driving it, and start putting money away for a big block.

The engine is out of a '70 skylark, i belive its rated at 260/350 torque, and a big block would be great, but cant get that right now. I wanted to drop in a Gn turbo 6 engine, but people say to much effort, and waste of money, then others say to hell with the turbo 6, get a 350 buick, and supercharge it, lol  so now i have this 350 engine, and want to make it GO, i am prepared to pay 5K+ for the engine parts, I just want to know is there a supercharger kit for the buick 350???? If not then i guess it would have to be custom :Do No: , there are people on this board with supercharged 350's, so thats what i wanna do :TU: , and the fuel injection setup is avaliable at Taperformance

go to xsperformance.net they got a supercharger kit.and the buick 350 can run pretty well.there lots of guys here running low 13s and their completeley streetable engines.not to mention tubbeds that shows what a buick 350 can really do :TU: and what about that guy with the apollo running 11s!!!! if we put as much money as 455 guys these engines can run!!! while my 350 is still slow im saving my money to make it run and have no plans for 455 build up!! the 455 might have those ta heads but there expensive.if u put that much to port some 350 heads u can prolly achieve the 275 cfms and thats enough for 500hp!!! the 455 is a great engine but this 350s can also run!!!

I'm 35 years old now, but I felt the same as you guys do when I was 20. You can certainly build a 350 that will run 11's. I had a normally aspirated 70 Skylark Convert that ran 12.63 - 12.80's. I had well over $4000 in the engine by the time I was done (in 1989 money), plus another grand in rear end changes getting it there. Conversely I had a 67 GS with a slightly mod'ed 455 which I put a little over $1000 in that ran Very low 13's, got 15mpg, and I got 75000 miles out of it before I finally sold the car. My only point is it is A LOT easier to do with a 455. A supercharged (or nitroused) 350 will never be as durable as a normally aspirated 455. My $.02

    Yea,
belive me I would love to have a big block, but i would just like to see how far i can push this engine. Seems like its my task for the next four years or so  , Thanks for the input, ill look into xsperformance, Ill kepp u guys updated  :3gears:

This thread is of interest to me because I go back and forth in my head all the time over the 350 vs 455 issue. The question that was asked here hasn't been addressed for the most part. My research on this is this... A 350 can run 11's but it won't have street gears, converter or cam. The best streetable 350 combo will get you high 12's to low 13's. JB at PAE has made exciting progress with 350's lately although I don't think anyone has a 1/4 mile time from a streetable car as of yet. I can't wait to see what tubbed's 350 powered race car does. This thread is has a few interesting things in it

I want to keep my 350 because I already have invested a few bucks into it, it's originally a 350 car, a 350 is lighter and has a strong block. If I was starting from scratch, a 455 would be a no brainer money wise. Up until the last few years a 350 car with some mods could take just about anything stock on the street. Today the OEM's are making so many fast cars that you pretty much have to have a 455 to keep up. I leaning that way.

Other option is Nitrous. It will be fun if done right. everyone you see almost at the track has some kind of power adder. just my .02

That's basically what I ran up against. 10.25/1 comp, .490 lift cam, 3.73 gears, 3000 stall. Barely enough vacuum to run power brakes. It was fun to drive short distances, but was not a good daily driver. :3gears:

The buick 350 with a supercharger thrwn on it, and interccoled would run 13's, and 12's right???? Saying also that the engine had rebuilt heads, aluminum intake manifold, Exhaust, and so on :TU:

I would expect much better than 13's or 12's with a procharger. A board member on this board has made in excess of 700hp with a buick 350 with a procharger. problem is he bent rods doing it. 13's can be had fairly easy on motor if the application is set up correctly.

Is there a thread about this supercharged 350? I'd like to learn more. I would consider it if I could have a very reliable 600 HP.
