Its winter storage time and I was wondering what tricks you guys use to keep the mice out of the engine bay. I have to keep my 68 convt. in a "cover it " type of garage. After Two weeks in there I already see their fried rice turds! :af:

I saw on one of those old car restoration shows where the guy said to use Irish spring soap under the seats of a car being stored.I keep an old 46 Chevy truck out in my barn and had seen signs of mice,Put some Irish spring under the seats and have not seen any signs of mice since.I also used to see them in my shop,so I put some around the shop and have not seen any this year so far :Do No: I know it sounds strange, but cheaper than new seats or wireing.Jeff

Jeff, one of the things I use is fabric softener sheets, place them under the seats, in the trunk and glove box. Also great for keeping bees and other bugs away. In my case I have get a few boxes.

I've had good luck with the electric ultrasonic pest repellers available at your local hardware store. No dead bodies or poop to contend with.

(I can't promise they are 100% effective, but they have been for me personally so far)

Lock a mean and hungry cat in the garage, and keep the windows and doors closed so it stays out of the car. :TU:

But take heed, one day you may wish for a hundred pound rat, to rid you of your cat.

Bounce fabric softener sheets. Toss them under the seats and in the trunk, don't know why but they work well. The car also smells nice and fresh in the spring!

I can loan you my pet 5 foot rat snake but the he likes it to be at least 70 degrees........... For the engine compartment just take off the air cleaner and cover the carb with a proper cap as those are their favorite places. Just for kicks set a couple of mouse traps and leave them on the floor areas that way if you catch any you know you have a problem. If you do not catch any than you know what you are doing is working. Just check often because they stink!
