How about changing body parts?

My Centurion's got a few cracks and bubbles under the paint here and there. I've been thinking that maybe it would be easier to change a few parts than to repair them, like a fender is about 25$, and a hood about the same at the yard. I would have to do a bit of work to get rid of some rust spots on the ones on my car now. So maybe it would be smarter to just replace them with rust free ones? Is the fit on these pieces good, or are they adjusted to fit each car individually? I mean, if I take a fender from a different car and bolt it on mine, will it have a good fit? Anyone who's got knowledge about this? This would be more for the future, but if I find a good specimen at the yard, it could be something to think about..
