Well, theres a kid about 18 at my job... Lets just say he's done and seen it all. If I buy a spark plug, he just paid 20 dollars more for his and its much better... ya know the type...anyways, his uncle owns a camaro, Gto etc. know quite a bit, so of coarse this kid knows as much>whatever... Anyways, a friend of mine is building up a 454. I'm about done with my 455. I asked kid above, what he thinks the outcome of a race would be.... Of coarse he claims the 454 will win hands down, no question.... I don't have a chance, especially off the line..... Now really anoid, especially at the "off the line " coment, I asked him why he thinks that....( proving he's an idiot) what he said next was hillarious....... He said because of how much torque the 454 puts out stock.... I about fell over... What do you guys think, ya think his facts are a little messed up..... I asked about this alleged Torque in the 454. I said how much we talking.... he confidently said the 454 puts out easily 450 lbs of torqe... i reashured him that factory the 455 can put out about 510 lbs. "Whatever:" he claims there's no way....

I personnelly like the dumbfounded look after you beat these type of people at the track. We had a guy at a local car show That had no concept the a turbo regal could be fast. He said he had a .030 over 283 or 327 (can't remember) He said he ran high 13's and that he has a hard time believing a V6 could run better. He asked my buddy for a ride. My buddy took him. The guy got out of the car dumbfounded and then said I got to get me one of those! :3gears:
Sailbrd is right, you lose in an arguement with one of those guys no matter what. I am always trying to correct guys like that because I can't stand BS'ers, and the only way it can sometimes work is to prove it to them either taking them for a ride or blowing their doors off. But then guess what? Then he's just going to become a fake purist and BS about your car to other people and get annoying to everyone "Oh my GOD that thing is SOO fast, nothing can beat it! It's got 442! It's got B&M! It's a Stage 4!" I'd personally rather these people be fans of Chevies, Hondas or any other kind of car I don't like, but every now and then a couple may become true believers and truley respect you and your brand X car.
My real sense of humors showing again! Carry a big ole pair of Depends in the car and tell him if he's going for a test ride he'll have to put on this "safety equipment" :spank:
That's when you turn to your friend (which knows his shiznit) who's standing there next to and you both bust out laughing. I've done that a few times.
Nawwwwwww, In your "serious" face, Look up like your really thinking and say......."well, you have me wondering now. Tell ya what, lets just line em up and see". Then when hes full of himself and "ready", pull a couple $100 bills outa your pocket and tell him, "we may as well make my lesson worth it shouldn't we ? Let's see what it'll do". If the guys a real motormouth, said mouth will fall open faster than it runs. I have found in the past that this shuts people up quick. I offered it up once a year ago with the 64' and some local hero. He shut up and left all too fast.
