How about a source for the insulators on the AC and heater hoses for a 70GS455 with AC? Thanks for any tips. Bert
Bert, the best that I have ever been able to do on these has been the junkyard. At least 350 Skylarks have the same ones.
I am working on reproducing the heater hose insulators now. Real automotive grade foam rubber. NOT Home Depot pipe insulation. Should have cost info by mid January. Could also do the AC line insulator. Not sure if I have a good sample of that one. Also working on the firewall grommet for the AC wire harness and vacuume lines to pass thru. Steve
If you need samples of something you want to make just let us know. Remaking these is needed and appreciated.
Good Deal! I am not sure how many there are supposed to be on the heater hoses and how many are on the AC hoses... Thanks for trying to reproduce these items. It just occured to me, did the rest of GM not use these type insulators? Thanks Bert
That long insulation sleeve was not used on a Skylark/GS. It also looks newer than rest of lines. The 70-72 Skylark/GS used a large donut on the large line that leans against the passenger fender well and one small donut that leans against the same area. I believe I have some old ones of you need them. Other GM divisions all routed AC lines it's own unique way and may have used different insulators.
Heater hose insulators? Dave, thanks for the offer, I sent you a PM in regard to the AC hose insulators. If anybody has some heater hose insulators in good shape let me know. Thanks Bert
