I need the little vacuum hose fitting that gets riveted to the heater box. The vacuum hose that runs from the hood tach connects to it. See pic.
Will buy it outright, or I will trade you my hood tach harness clip for your nylon fitting. Anybody have one of these fittings?

Doesn't TPP sell a repop kit?

Yes they do, but unless they've updated the kit, neither the filter or the heater box fitting look anything close to correct.

I've got the correct filter, but I need that heater box fitting.

Dean, would you be willing to buy a whole air box for one of these? The reason I ask is my local swap meet is coming up soon and I doubt I'd find the fitting w/o finding a whole box. Have you looked at any of the Pontiac repop shops?

    wheelz 'B' is for Buick.

FWIW....quite a few years back, at the 98 GS Nats, I saw a non a/c box in the swap area, with one of those connectors. I passed on the crazy thing :Dou: because I thought someone just kinda stuck it on.. IF I ONLY KNEW back then what it REALLY was... :spank:
ANYWAY, keep looking and do not only limit yourself to just a/c car boxes!!! Wheelz, Tampa Bay

Yes, see what you can find. You can keep the box and just send me the fitting. I'm sure we can work something out if you find one!

    Dean,
The 90 degree fitting you pictured is the 72 style fitting. On Buick A-bodies it would only be found on 72 cars that came with factory hood tachs, so the chances of finding one in a flea market are slim to none.

    However, here's a hint,
This same fitting can also be found on other model GM cars of the same vintage. I remember finding one on the airbox of a 69 Cadillac.

If you guys broaden your horizons you can find all kinds of useful hard to find pieces on the big cars.

Thanks Duane for the added info. The car I'm messing with is a '72. I've got an NOS '72 hood tach and just need that little fitting! Interesting tidbit about finding the thing on a Cadillac. I'll keep your info in mind as I look.

    Dean,
I used to love stripping big cars in Junk Yards. All the hoses on them are longer then they are on the a-bodies. I used to strip off all the vacuum lines, wiper hoses etc, then clean and cut them to the correct lengths, and put them on the Concours cars. All the Buicks I ever owned had yellow striped windshield washer hoses off of Cadillacs or big Buicks. There was no need to spend money on repro/new hoses when you could recycle original pieces with a little elbow grease and the yards never charged me for them.

For Concours you can't get better then original parts, plus it used to drive some of the guys crazy trying to figure out WHERE I found original hoses with the "lines or cross ribs" molded in, or with heat embossed writing on them, like the 71-72 emission hoses. Especially before they were reproduced.:bla:

My 71 GSX has a bunch of recycled original hoses on it.

I too have been known to grab those hoses off the big cars and cut them to length, especially the windshield washer hoses since you can't get the correct O.D. hose any more. Great minds think alike I guess. :Brow:

In case anyone else is thinking about using the reproduction vent line kit, here's some pics that'll make you think twice. This kit is available from most vendors and eBay. You can see why I'd rather make up my own using correct parts. NOTHING about this kit is even close to looking correct. Don't even get me started on that filter!

wow that is a mess! No surprise if it's parts place junk. You can find the filters cost ya about $50 bones for the little sucker though, Judge and GSX used them.
